{"id":126,"date":"2017-05-03T20:24:57","date_gmt":"2017-05-04T01:24:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sinjinsmith.net\/?p=126"},"modified":"2017-05-03T20:25:11","modified_gmt":"2017-05-04T01:25:11","slug":"install-openvas-on-kali-linux-2017-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sinjinsmith.net\/?p=126","title":{"rendered":"Install OpenVAS on Kali Linux 2017.1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">OpenVAS is no longer included by default with Kali Linux.\u00a0 To setup OpenVAS perform the following steps.\u00a0 make sure you have the repository available in sources.list file.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">nano\u00a0 \/etc\/apt\/sources.list<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">And make sure the following line is present.\u00a0 If it is not, add it.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">deb <a id=\"LPlnk972581\" href=\"http:\/\/http.kali.org\/kali\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/http.kali.org\/kali<\/a> kali-rolling main non-free contrib<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">You can now install OpenVAS with the following commands:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">apt update<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">apt install openvas<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">openvas-setup<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The openvas-setup command takes awhile to complete, so do not become impatient.\u00a0 When it finishes running, be sure to\u00a0copy the password into text editor and save.
